Food History
What people eat says a lot about who they are and the places that they live. Local, regional and national cuisines are the source of great pride and connection for the people that share them and can identify cultures like fingerprints. Just like the cultures that they reflect, regional foods grow, adapt and change over time. As we travel around the world, we will explore each region’s culinary history as a way of understanding where they are today.

Wine History
Closely intertwined with the development of food is the adaptation of wine as an integral part of the cuisine and culture in the regions that we will be exploring. Wine varieties and styles have changed dramatically over the centuries and continue to evolve. Once limited by environmental constraints and agricultural practices, a cornucopia of different tastes are now available at almost any destination you choose.

The Future
Looking into our crystal ball, we’ll leave the past behind and look to where each region is heading, not where they already have been. The world is in flux. We are in both an exciting and frightening time. New ways of communicating and travel have made traditional ideas of regional identify antiquated and inaccurate. What balance will be achieved in this battle between globalization and regional character? Stay tune as we make our best guesses.
